What is "Pinging"? Pinging is a service used to notify Search Engines and other entities like Technorati that you have added a Post to your Blog, or made a change or correction in an existing post. This sends the "Spiders" to Crawl your Blog looking for content--An update.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Due to the extremely large amounts of Websites and Blogs on the Internet, one can only imagine the time involved for these Search Engines to achieve this. This is why I prefer to give them a Hand in doing so ( Gotta make sure I'm Pinged!!!).

  2. Step 2

There are many manual Ping services avaliable, any search on Google or Yahoo will give you a list. I use PING-O-MATIC.com, and find them very easy to use. It's simple---You go to their Website, enter the Name of your Blog ( If you Wish to ), and enter the URL ( That your Blog's Address ). Once you have done that you select who to ping or choose to ping everyone, Hit Ping and your done.

  3. Step 3

FEEDBURNER---Without a doubt Feedburner is used by the majority of blogs for their feed. They also offer an automatic Ping service. Go to feedburner.com, from your account page you select your Blog, click the "Publicize Tab". On the left side you will find "PINGSHOT"--click on this. There you can choose from Pre-Selected chooses, and also add 5 additional services. Once you have done this feedburner will automaticly ping those services.
