Make Potato Pancakes (Polish Dish)

Potato pancakes are Polish traditional dish. They may be served with a variety of condiments, such as sour cream, meat sauce, applesauce, or they may be just sprinkled with sugar. And what is best about them, they are very easy to make!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1-2 eggs
  • 3-4 spoons of flower
  • Salt, pepper, oil
  1. Step 1

Peel and wash potatoes and grate them (I prefer grater for more texture, but you can also do it in a blender). Add one teaspoon of salt and half teaspoon of pepper. Let the mix stand several minutes and then drain off excess water.

  2. Step 2

In medium bowl, beat eggs until thick, add potatoes and flower.

  3. Step 3

Heat oil on a frying pan, so that the pancakes would be half sunk in it.

  4. Step 4

Form small round pancakes (3 to 5 inches diameter) and fry until brown on both sides.

  5. Step 5

After frying, apply dry paper towel to take excess of grease away.

  6. Step 6

You can serve them with sour cream, apple sauce, meat sauce or sprinkle with sugar.
    Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • To make pancakes fluffier you can add some sour cream to the flower
  • You can make potato pancakes with grated mushrooms, onion, garlic and spices.

on 12/27/2008 I love these! My grandma used to make them from mashed potatoes with cheese and sour cream, when we'd visit her in Chicago. (Must be why I'm so fat, now)
