Yes, you can lose weight by watching TV, but it won't be easy. It will take hard work, but your mind will be distracted so the hard work won't seem so hard. Many people watch an average of 3 hours of television a day, why not use one of those hours to work-out while you are watching your favorite show.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Invest in a treadmill. Treadmills are great for losing weight while watching television. You can slow down when the good parts of the show are on and speed up when the commercials are on.

  2. Step 2

Buy a weight loss DVD. Some people have reported excellent results and weight loss by watching a DVD while they work out. Some good weight loss DVDs are The Biggest Loser Workout: Cardio Max and SWAT Workout: Extreme Weight Loss and Fat Burning. You can get both of these at Amazon (See Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Watch a music video channel then dance to the songs. You will enjoy yourself, but you will also be burning calories to help you to lose weight.

  4. Step 4

Utilize commercial breaks to do sit-ups or push-ups in which your eyes can be diverted from the television.

  5. Step 5

Use an Exercise Stepper while watching television. This doesn't have to be a fancy gym equipment machine, but an inexpensive plastic stepper that you can find at many stores. See the resources section below for an example of a plastic stepper.

  6. Step 6

Watch and Exercise with a Friend. You know that you talk about your favorite shows with a friend. Why not make a once a week date to get together while your favorite show is on? But instead of drinking a glass of wine or a beer and eating chips or pizza, replace that time with exercise while the show is on. That why, you will help your weight loss goal while also enjoying yourself with your friend and favorite show.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't limit your exercise time to just in front of the TV. Go outside or to the gym to prevent boredom in your exercise routine.
  • Check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
