In this article you will learn to teach your puppy how to Sit, using three simple steps.( and a puppies natural love of food.)

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • You will need a small treat for your puppy, to reward him if he dose sit correctly. Store baught treats, or a small piece of cheese will be fine.
  1. Step 1

First, you probably want to begin in a nice open part of your home so that the both of you have plenty of room to operate and your puppy feels comfortable.
Also you want to have your puppies full attention on you.
Showing him that you have something yummy in your hand usually does the trick.

  2. Step 2

Hold the treat above your puppies nose just out of reach, and move it backwards directly over his head, accompanied by the command 'Sit'.
The moving of the puppies head backwards, should bring the puppies rump to the floor.

  3. Step 3

When your puppy sits, give him the treat right away and tell him 'good sit'.
Repeat the exercise at regular intervals during the day for as long as necessary ,that is, until your puppy begins to sit by just hearing the command.
If this method does not work the first time, wait 5-10 minuets before trying again.

Tips & Warnings
  • A book that has this method and many like it is a book called " The Dog Whisperer."
