Even a beginner crocheter can make these with the simple single crochet stitch. They are a very inexpensive thing to make to sell at school stores or craft sales. Give these colorful worms character with wiggly eyes and whimsical smiles.

  • Yarn
  • F or G crochet hook
  • Wiggly 3 or 4 mm craft eyes
  • Craft adhesive

Instructions

    • 1

      Crochet a 47 stitch chain.

    • 2

      Turn and single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Single crochet in each chain for a total of 45 single crochets.

      Chain four and join to make a ring.

    • 4

      Single crochet five times in the ring. Join. Then chain two and turn.

    • 5

      Single crochet two times in each of the five single crochets for a total of 10 single crochets.

      Decrease back to five stitches as follows. Insert hook between two single crochets. Yarn over the hook and pull through. Repeat with next two single crochets. You will see that the round head is beginning to take shape. Decrease down to three stitches. Insert hook, insert into the three single crochets and pull yarn through. Bind off. cut yarn. Push the end of the yarn up into the head.

      Glue wiggly eyes to head to complete the worm. Use thread and needle to stitch two slash marks for a smile.
