How to Crochet a "Squirmy Worm" Bookmark
Anyone that reads has a need for bookmarks. You can make a batch of Squirmy Worm bookmarks with yarn remnants for all the readers in your circle of family and friends. Even a beginner crocheter can make these with the simple single crochet stitch. They are a very inexpensive thing to make to sell at school stores or craft sales. Crochet a 47 stitch chain.

Turn and single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Single crochet in each chain for a total of 45 single crochets.

Chain four and join to make a ring.

Single crochet five times in the ring. Join. Then chain two and turn.

Single crochet two times in each of the five single crochets for a total of 10 single crochets.

Decrease back to five stitches as follows. Insert hook between two single crochets. Yarn over the hook and pull through. Repeat with next two single crochets. You will see that the round head is beginning to take shape. Decrease down to three stitches. Insert hook, insert into the three single crochets and pull yarn through. Bind off. cut yarn. Push the end of the yarn up into the head.
