Choose the right keywords

When writing online, proper use of keywords can make the difference in your page being found in web searches or being lost in cyberspace. Not only will good keywords drive more traffic to your article, the quality of the keywords affect the revenue generated from your web page. Plus, proper usage of keywords affect the ranking of your webpage, making your page come up much higher in searches for that keyword or keyword phrase. Using a keyword tool can be very helpful in selecting the right keyword.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

So you have a great idea for an article or blog, how do you apply the proper usage of keywords to maximize the traffic and revenue on your site? Go to the Google AdWords Keyword Tool (See resources below) and plug in your keywords or keyword phrases of choice. Use several keywords, even synonyms, in the keyword tool and see what your results are. You may find that a simple change from what you had intended to use as keywords will drive substantially more traffic and significantly raise profit.

  2. Step 2

Click the "Show or hide columns" in the keyword tool and click the column that says "CPC." This shows what the bids are for hits on relevant ads for each of the keywords or keyword phrases. Finding the right balance between keywords who receive a lot of traffic and ones that pay well per hit is the key to finding the best keywords for your writing. When you have chosen the perfect keywords, move on to writing.

  3. Step 3

Implement proper usage of keywords in your page. Include the keywords in your title, in the names of picture images, and frequently throughout your webpage. There is a fine line of peppering your webpage with great keywords and spam, so make sure your writing still has a nice flow. Theoretically, the more you use your keywords properly, the higher up in web searches your page will be.
