Step 1
He used a go-between. He had a mutual friend approach me for him, and tell me he was interested in me. He asked the friend to get my telephone number so he could call me. He gave the friend instructions to give me his telephone number so I could call him if that was my preference just in case I had another man. I was flattered, but I told his friend a man that fine has to already have another girl, and I wasn't interested in being part of a triangle.

Step 2
He was very persistent. He did not take "no" for an answer.
He and the go-between friend came to my house the next evening. I had "company", so he asked the go-between to knock on my door and ask me if it was alright for him to come in. I was impressed by his persistence, and welcomed them both in. My "company" was amused, but not intimidated. We all sat down around the card table and played some bid-whist. After your Dad and the go-between left, I kissed my "company" goodbye- literally. And never saw him again. -
Step 3
He was honest with me. He told me his first girlfriend broke up with him because he didn't want to get married, and his last girl friend left town to advance her education in Journalism. He let me know there was no one else he was serious about getting involved with even though there were several girls interested in him. He respected me. He opened doors for me. And he always put me first in his life. When I was published in Ebony Magazine and receiving calls from other men all over the world, he never acted like a jealous maniac. He knew my heart belonged to him, and I could see his love for me in his eyes which are the windows of the soul. He spoiled me to death, and I loved every minute of it. It didn't take him long to make me believe I couldn't live without him.
