Wrapping the perfect present takes practice. It is a great feeling seeing a perfectly wrapped present. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a box or present to wrap
  • scotch tape
  • scissors
  • gift wrapping paper
  1. Step 1

Measure your wrapping paper before you cut it. Take time to measure your wrapping paper before cutting it. To easily measure your wrapping paper, set the present on the wrapping paper you've rolled out. Then pull the wrapping around the present and cut the paper. Now your paper is the proper length and will look perfect on the Christmas gift.

  2. Step 2

Always use a Scotch tape strip dispenser. This invention makes wrapping your presents so much better. You will be able to hold the paper in place with one hand, while taping with the other, because the tape dispenser goes on your finger.

  3. Step 3

Make sure to always use sharp scissors. Nothing is more unprofessional looking than wrapping presents and having your paper tear when you try to cut it. If you aren't using sharp enough scissors, you will not get a clean edge when you cut your wrapping paper.

  4. Step 4

Place your gift upside down when wrapping it. In order for the Christmas present to be opened properly, you need to place the gift upside on the wrapping paper. This will ensure that when the gift recipient opens their gift, it will be right side up.

  5. Step 5

Always use ribbon instead of bows. Bows are bad for falling off your packages and they usually wind up in dog or cats digestive system. Tying your own bows is not that hard and looks much better.

  6. Step 6

This year, wrap your presents with Recycled Paper. http://www.greenraising.com/Recycled-Gift-Wrap-C12.aspx

on 12/20/2008 I can't wrap chewing gum, roll cellaphane, or stack golf balls on baseballs. I'm a complete loser at wrapping...but this article might help.

on 12/17/2008 Nice ideas for that professional touch. I agree--ribbon looks much nicer than those stick-on bows.
