These days, even though a convicted felon has paid his or her debt to society, they still may not be able to get a job. Employers, more and more, require background checks and other strenuous checks to make sure they have the type of employee they prefer. However, that doesn't mean the door is shut by any means. There are a lot of jobs out there and just because you are a convicted felon, doesn't mean you don't deserve a job too.

      Start by applying for all the jobs you believe you are qualified for and present your resume just as anybody else would. Be up front with your interviewer and stress your rehabilitation and accomplishments since your debt to society has been paid. Bring along your references and provide open and honest position about your current life.

      Contact non-profits and religious organizations for job opportunities. These types of establishments are open to working with people instead of labels and can get you on your feet to getting a paycheck. If they can't help, they maybe willing to provide support on where to look next.

      Contact local organizations who work with convicted felons after being released. These folks will have lists of jobs available, not withstanding your background, to give you a head start on where to look.

      Consider working odd jobs until you find the perfect employment. As long as you do well and bring in a paycheck, you can continue to look for your perfect career.

      Consider going back to school and enrolling in a profession that offers job training and placement. These schools have open partnerships with companies that only require you have proper schooling.

      Ask friends and family if they know of any small business that has openings. Working with the owner or manager of a store or company can be a great opportunity without the hassles of corporations who have arbitrary rules.
