Finding a Los Angeles loft rental may not be an easy task, but that is only because there are so many fabulous neighborhoods in Los Angeles, as well as many wonderful loft rentals to choose from. Where do you start?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what your budget is. Los Angeles loft rentals are not cheap, and the size of the loft and the neighborhood that it is in will make all the difference to your budget. Also decide if you want a roommate. Sharing a loft rental with someone will cut your costs considerably.

  2. Step 2

Investigate the Los Angeles neighborhoods that you are interested in renting a loft in carefully. You can talk to police departments or look up statistics for a given zip code on the internet. There are some beautiful loft apartments in some really dicey neighborhoods.

  3. Step 3

Once you've identified what price you are able to pay for a loft rental in Los Angeles, and which neighborhood you want to live in, check Craigslist. You may be able to find a pretty good deal from an individual. Check the listings frequently throughout the day, as the good properties will go quickly.

  4. Step 4

If you are trying to find a loft rental in a competitive Los Angeles neighborhood, you may want to work with a realtor. That person can tell you what is in your price range in the neighborhood you want to live in, if anything. If nothing is currently available, try to wait for something to come up before taking a loft that is in an undesirable neighborhood.

  5. Step 5

See the resource section to discover some excellent loft decor ideas!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find a roommate who will be moving soon, you may be able to take over the lease for the loft.
  • Make sure your loft rental has good parking.
  • If your loft is owned by an individual, find out if he or she lives in LA. If not, you may have difficulties later on with maintenance issues.
  • Make sure that the loft rental is really a loft. People know that lofts are trendy, and may try to represent a run of the mill apartment as a loft.
