Find Online Teaching Jobs

Online teaching jobs are becoming easier to find with the popularity of online degrees growing. But many job seekers have difficulty securing their first job leads. Here are a few companies that consistently offer online teaching jobs.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

University of Phoenix offers a variety of positions. Online instructors teach courses on nutrition, college writing, business and much more. To qualify for a teaching job with University of Phoenix, you must have a master’s degree and work experienced in the subject you want to teach.

  2. Step 2

Send an application to Capella University. Voted one of the best places to work by Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal, Capella offers many adjunct online teaching jobs. You can easily complete an application online.

  3. Step 3

Check out DeVry University. DeVry appears to post online teaching jobs frequently, and offer a wide spectrum of courses. To qualify as an instructor, you must have a Master’s degree in the field being taught and 18 graduate hours in the subject you want to teach.

  4. Step 4

If you don’t have a Master’s degree, check out Tutor.com. They offer positions for math, science, writing, social studies and much more. Tutors get to set their own schedules and have the option of picking up additional hours when their schedule allows.

  5. Step 5

Prospect colleges in your community. Most colleges are launching online programs to meet the demands of students. Check with your local college about online teaching jobs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider home schooling programs. Many home schooling programs hire licensed teachers to help facilitate their programs.
  • Search for jobs everyday. Your chances of securing an online teaching job will greatly increase if you apply to jobs daily. Also, connect with recruiters at colleges so they can keep you updated of new job postings.

on 8/3/2009 There are many "traditional" universities now offering online programs, as well. One of the first schools to ever offer online courses (in the early 1990's) is my alma mater, Mountain State University. They hire many online adjuncts as well. Thanks for posting this informative article. 5*
