Make A Master Biscuit Mix (Bisquick Substitute)

Do you like the convenience of those boxed baking mixes but you hate paying the price or you don't like you family to eat a bunch of chemicals? Well, you can make your own up ahead of time from fresh ingredients and at less cost. Just substitute this recipe in recipes that you usually use your biscuit mix in.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 c. baking powder
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 9 c. flour
  • 1 1/4 c. canola oil
  1. Step 1

Sift the baking powder and the sugar together into the flour. Sift them together twice into a large mixing bowl.

  2. Step 2

Slowly add the oil. Cut the oil into the mixture with a pastry blender. Do this until it has the consistency of corn meal.

  3. Step 3

Store in a container with a tight cover. It can be stored at room temperature or it can be kept in the refrigerator.

  4. Step 4

You can use this mix to make biscuits, pancakes, waffles, dumplings, ect.

  5. Step 5

For simple biscuits combine 2 cups mix and 2/3 cup milk. Drop by the tablespoon onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes in a PREHEATED oven at 450 degrees F.
