Microsoft PowerPoint is a great tool to use when creating a slide show. You can create any kind of slide show you wish, whether it be for a presentation, demonstration or just a picture slide show. This is a fairly easy task.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Computer
  • Information/Pictures to Create the Slide Show
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 or More Recent
  1. Step 1

Open Microsoft PowerPoint by going to the "Start" menu and selecting "Microsoft Office" and then selecting "Microsoft Office PowerPoint." This will open up the program and slide one will automatically populate on your screen. Here is where you can put in the information for your slide show. If you want to insert pictures, you can open them from files on your computer or scan them in. You can do this by going to the "Insert" option on the top tool bar and choosing the "Picture" option. You can choose the "From File" option from here to insert pictures that have been saved on your computer or are on a removable disc. You can put multiple pictures on a page or just keep it one to a page.

  2. Step 2

Insert as many slides as you need for your show by going to the "Insert" option on the top tool bar and chose the "New Slide" option. Once your slides are set up and ready to be presented, go to the "Slide Show" option on the top tool bar to set up your show.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Set Up Show" option. A pop up box will populate on your screen with your options for your slide show. Here you can choose your show type and choose how to present the show. Under show options, you can choose to have your slide show run continuously by checking the loop continuously. You can choose the color of your text here as well. You can also change the resolution of the slide show. You can choose what slides to present. If you have only a few that you wish to show, you can select those specific slides. You can select "All" if you wish for all of the slides to be viewed.

  4. Step 4

Choose the "Slide Show" option to create different features for your show as well. By choosing the "Animation" option, you can choose how you want your slides presented using different features like fade in, zoom and many others. Under the "Slide Transition" option, you can choose how you want your slides to run. There are options here such as fade, dissolve and many others. Choose whichever option fits your presentation best.

  5. Step 5

Go to the "Slide Show" option once all of your details have been chosen to view your show. You can click "Rehearse Timings" if you wish to review the show before you view the entire thing. Here you can modify the timing of your show if it is too fast or too slow when you view it. After all of your changes have been made, make sure you save the show. Go to the "Slide Show" option and choose "View Show." Your slide show will run on your computer. You can then save it on a removable disc to take to your special event.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to save it to a DVD so that you can use it with a DVD player if you are presenting on a television. If you are using a projector, you will need a laptop computer to hook up to the projector to view the show Adding sounds and music to your show will give it an added appeal
