Make a Weighted Softball
Make a Weighted Softball

Learn how to make a weighted softball from supplies around your house.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hammer
  • Nails
  • Softball
  • Duct tape
  1. Step 1

Get a softball, it does not matter if it's new or old.

  2. Step 2

Hammer the nails into each seam. Dependent on the weight you are aiming to achieve for the ball, that's how many nails you need to put into the seams. For a heavier ball, put one nail on each side of the seam and one nail in the middle. Repeat this process for every seam. For a lighter ball put one nail in the middle of each seam. Make sure to put them in consistently throughout the ball so the weight is spread evenly throughout.

  3. Step 3

Cover the nails that you have put into the softball with the duct tap in order to prevent the nails from scratching the pitcher's hand.

  4. Step 4

Using this process you can make many different types of weighted softballs and save the expense of buying/ordering weighted softballs.
