      Another idea!

Make the invite. Since Elmo's best friend is Dorothy the friendly goldfish, you might consider sending invites from the fish bowl. Consider a fish bowl shaped design for the card using card board, markers, and stickers, and then write "Join us in Elmo's World." You can ask for RSVP by mail or email since Elmo loves to get mail. You can also find many different Elmo invitations premade at your local party store.

Plan party games. Consider making games that incorporate the fun TV show. You could have a puppet show from Elmo's window or have Table give out mail to each child. You can use standard household items like a window shade and sofa table with a drawer for these activities. The window shade can be hung on a hand built puppet stage and the table could be the beginning of a scavenger hunt. Have the kids get their mail or first clue from Table and they could hunt for Elmo's friends, Bert and Ernie, along the way.

Plan a party craft. Kids of all ages will enjoy coloring pictures of Elmo or decorating Elmo pictures with various craft products like buttons or ribbon. You could even let the kids design their own puppets to be included in the show. Use plain brown paper bags and glue fun pictures of Elmo and his friends on the bottom. Find places that have Sesame Clip art images for you to use for this project below in the Resources section.

For the cake, you can choose form many different designs. There are cakes made in the shape of Elmo. You can find one that even uses coconut for the furry look. You could also choose a cake decorated with plastic decor to resemble Elmo's home. Better yet, with all the new photo shop technology, you can have Elmo put into a picture with your son and that picture can now be put on your cake. It is completely edible. Check with your local bakery to find even more options.

For snacks, of course, you will have to include goldfish crackers in your snack offerings. You could also have Elmo's friends like Cookie Monster bring their favorite treats. The Count could bring mini bats made from chocolate, Big Bird could bring gummy worms, and the cook could bring some fruit and veggie trays. You could use bowls and put signs on the front that say who sent what.

Goodie bags can be made from a wide variety of Sesame Street products. You can include educational products like flash cards or pencils. There are also many types of Elmo coloring books and crayons that can be included. You can also check with parents and if they say it is okay, you could give out live fish in small fish bowls. Make sure you send the fish home in small plastic bags.
