How to Add Highlights Quickly and Professionally in Short Time

Discover how to add highlights in shorter time and professionally. Adding highlights to your hair doesn't have to take 3 hours to complete for long hair. With this technique it can be done in 1 hour minimum.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Redken up to 7 levels
• Redken 10 volume developer
• An application brush
• An application bowl
• Redken color care Shampoo
• Styling cape
• Redken color care conditioner
• A comb
• Water

1. In order to complete the highlighting process,make sure that all of your supplies are in place and reachable. Drape your client to begin the process. It would be a great idea to have a towel under the cape and on the outside to avoid any color spill.

2. When highlighting pull your clients hair into ponytail with rubber band gently. Measure equal parts of highlighting powder and equal parts developer into bowl. Make sure you close the developer and highlighting powder, immediately to ensure it's strength for later usage.

3. Comb hair thoroughly before applying any highlighting application. To ensure that there are no kinks. Begin applying highlighting application to the ponytail evenly distributing throughout the process. Let this application sit no longer than 10 minutes. Shampoo your clients hair thoroughly in ponytail, rinse, and condition. Then complete the entire head with shampoo, rinse and condition to ensure all residue is completely gone.

Tips & Warnings

• If the color isn't at desired level add a toner or semi permanent color to add the color of your choice.
• Don't complete a highlight on relaxed hair the same day. It needs to be done 3 weeks later.
• It is best to perm or relax hair first, otherwise your color will fade quickly.
• You can use only professional products to complete this process.
• See your local beauty supply store for the proper supplies
