Have a Great Time at the Office Holiday Party

Your office Christmas party is a great way to network with your co-workers in the relaxed atmosphere of a party. Try to remember that these people you will see every day, so take it easy on the drinking, and conduct yourself with a degree of dignity while having a great time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find out what the dress "code" will be for the party. Try to adhere to it, and have fun with it while not going "over the top". Keep in mind that this is your place of business and you do not want to feel "uncomfortable" or embarassed when going back to work.
When you feel more attractive, it will increase your self confidence.
You might want to get your hair and makeup done. If you feel good about how you look, then this will come across to the people you are with.

  2. Step 2

Wear comfortable shoes. THIS IS A MUST!!!!! You will probably be standing up a lot and walking around to mingle and talk to people a lot, and the last thing you want are uncomfortable shoes

  3. Step 3

Be sure to monitor the amount you drink. You know your own limits.
If you get a bit "tipsy" after one drink, and you know that, maybe you should choose to drink something that is non-alcholic.

When you are saying hi to other people, be sure that you do it in a respectful way. Shaking hands, or if it is a close friend, a hug will be fine also. However, do NOT use this occasion to try to get someone
you have always "admired" or secretly have a crush on, which is very common when you work with the same people day in and day out, under the mistletoe. You may regret it later.

  4. Step 4

Be in a happy and positive mood. This is a great way to get to know one another in a positive atmosphere. Work the room, and speak to as many people as possible. Try not to discuss work, and keep the conversation on more general topics. This way you may get to know your co-workers in a different way that does not include the hustle and bustle of work.

Be sure before you leave to thank your host or hostess and a few people you may have gotten to know better. If anyone begs you to stay longer, have a valid sounding excuse as to why you have to leave. Remember, this party is for you to get to know people better, not to drink too much, or act in a manner which you may regret later on. Put on your "party hat" and enjoy!!!!!
