Step 1
Choose a wine. The wine should be as personal as the bottle, if possible. Make an effort to find out what the persons favorite wine is.
-
Step 2
Using room temperature water, soak the label off. Try to preserve it if possible so that you can use it for further steps. Do not use hot water as it will ruin the wine inside the bottle. If it will not come off this way, make note of the information on the label and scrape it off with a razor blade. Certain chemicals can also be used, but make sure you wash the bottle afterwards so nothing gets into the wine.
-
Step 3
Personalized wine bottles should depict something about the character of the person receiving it. Think about their interests. To you, what defines them as a person?
-
Step 4
Create a new label. Use a nice piece of parchment. Believe it or not a good old fashioned glue stick works great to stick them on. Re-name the wine to something that says something about the person you are giving it to. Make sure to include any poignant information from the label, like the grape, the winery and the year. The label can also be a great place to reminisce about childhood memories or anything else the person you are making it for might enjoy reading.
-
Step 5
Decorate the personalized wine bottles. You can use any scrap booking materials or trinkets which you think they might like. You can even paint the personalized wine bottle, although if you are going to do that, you should do it before adding the label.
-
Step 6
Finish it off by wrapping it from the bottom, up with cellophane and wrapping the top of the personalized wine bottles with a big gaudy bow. This way it is gift wrapped, but you can still show off your handy work.
