Step 1
Send out invitations on the internet. Try using sites like Evite or Punchbowl that allow you to choose from a number of great designs. Or for those friends who do not use the internet a lot, send your invitations on recycled paper.
-
Step 2
Include a bus route in your invitation or offer a gift for the person who has the most car-poolers.
-
Step 3
Make up games to play using the eco-friendly theme. Games are great ice-breakers to get people to meet each other. And if you theme your games 'green' you will help spread awareness in a fun way.
-
Step 4
Decorate from the garden. Make a centerpiece with pine cones, flowers, seedpods and branches. If you have a garden in flower, create your own arrangements or put a single flower here and there for decoration.
-
Step 5
Serve organic foods, beers and wines and use filtered water rather than bottled water.
-
Step 6
Rather than plastic, try biodegradeable cuttlery.Buy biodegradable plates and cuttlery by Natureworks, Green Feet, the Green Office or other suppliers of eco-friendly dishware. Or use real, washable dinnerware.
-
Step 7
Make sure you have containers spread about that are well marked for trash and for recyclables. This should also make it easier for you to clean up. People will usually clean up after themselves if you make it easy enough.
-
Step 8
Party with natural daylight.Hold your party outdoors when still light, weather permitting. Use solar lights and soy candles. You could even have an all candle-lit party inside or out.
-
Step 9
Hopefully, these suggestions will show that it's easy to have a party with chic eco friendly ideas. See how many more ideas you can come up with!
