1
Make a list of things your home needs, colors you are using for each room and sizes of things such as tables, linens and such. Be specific in number of china plates, silverware or glasses if you have them on your list.
-
2
Shop for your housewarming gifts where you intend to open your gift registries. Inform the store personnel of what you're doing first so they can arm you with their checklists, and oftentimes, a neat electronic gift registry register that looks like a chunky calculator. Be specific on colors, patterns and sizes. Be certain to include a variety of items in all price ranges. Do not expect your guests to purchase super lavish gifts.

3
Insert the gift registry cards into the housewarming party invitations or give them to the person who is planning your housewarming party to do so. Keep an extra for yourself and the person planning the party as a point of reference.
-
4
Update your gift registry as gifts are received, even if it's after the housewarming party is over. Some invited guests may wish to purchase something for you after the fact if they were not able to attend the housewarming party.
-
5
Designate someone to be your helper at the housewarming party and jot down who gifted you with what as you open your gifts. This will enable you to send out more personal thank you cards. Always send thank you cards promptly.
