Make Winter Busting White Chili_Using Ground Turkey

This recipe for Winter busting white chili is coming in handy today in Indiana. It's only 9 degrees and with the wind chill factor I don't even want to think about how cold it is. Let's just say my doors to my truck were frozen shut this morning. I hope you give this White Chili with ground turkey recipe a try. It really is good.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Pound of navy or Great northern beans
  • 1 or 2 Pound Ground Turkey Italian Sausage
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 1 Green pepper
  • 1 Cup chopped celery
  • 1 Teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 Teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 Clove of garlic
  • 2 Teapspoon chicken bouillon granules
  • 3 Cups cooked chopped Chicken or Turkey
  • 1- 4 ounce can chopped green chili's
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Cup grated parmesan cheese
  1. Step 1

Soak your beans overnight if possible. If not soak as many hours as you can.
Bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Add beans and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 1 hour. Drain the water.

  2. Step 2

Brown ground turkey sausage. Add onion, celery, pepper, oregano, garlic and hot pepper sauce. Cook 5-10 minutes stirring constantly.

  3. Step 3

Reduce heat to low. Ad 5 cups water and bouillon to pan. Add beans, meat mixture, Chicken/Turkey and green chilies. Cover and cook 1 1/2 -2 hours. Check water level every 30 minutes and add more water if necessary. Cook the beans until tender.

  4. Step 4

Season with salt & pepper. Ladle into soup bowls and sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons cheese on top of each serving. Enjoy!

  5. Step 5

Chili made with pinto beans instead of navy beans. Really good this way too.

Tips & Warnings
  • I didn't have white beans to use so I used pinto beans, it was still very good.
  • You can use 2 pounds of ground turkey if you don't have chicken or Turkey.
