Financial help for parents that need help providing for their children is out there. Single moms in financial distress may be able to find help to pay for education, clothing, food, utility bills, housing and health care costs.

Educational costs for single parents to further their education to help their family get out of poverty can be found through educational providers. While there are many grants and scholarships available through various sources the best place to start is at a college or training facilities enrollment center, they are not only trained to find all funds available to help pay for college but are motivated to get you enrolled in their program.

Clothing can be a expensive cost for a family budget, especially when their is only one income. Many community organizations have recognized the need to provide adults clothing to be able to go to work along with children clothing. Some organizations gather clothing just for women in need of clothes to go to a job or wear on a interview. To find one in your neighborhood you may be able to talk to the local career center to get a recommendation to such organizations. Such organizations usually will only help when a recommendation has been given. Organizations such as salvation army may also be able to help with clothes for children and adults. Family services may also be able to give recommendations and phone number of places to obtain clothing for families in need.

With the cost of living increases many families have found themselves in need of help with putting food on the table. The best place to look is a local food pantry most towns no matter how small will usually have one. If you can not find one in the phone book call you local family services or local churches for more information. When calling family services also inquire if your family qualifies for food stamps. Single mom's or dad's that have children under the age of 5 may also qualify for a program (WIC) through the Health department to get free vouchers for cheese, milk, cereal, and peanuts butter. Food vouchers through the health department are easier to qualify for then food stamps.

The housing department in a city usually has specific program grants to help single mom's with housing and other related costs. Depending on funds available the housing department may also be able to help with utility costs. If your having trouble paying for utilities contact your provider first, they will be able to give you information on where to find help in your area for such costs. Organizations may even help single moms find other single moms to share housing cost's with.

Health insurance is expensive but without it a single mom will be gambling. Check with your local family services department to see if you or your kid qualifies for state provided insurance. If your family does not qualify also request information on Federal Qualified Health services office. Fees for a Federal Qualified Health services offices are given on a sliding fee scale base on income per a household.
