get you kids to tell you what they want for Christmas

Having a hard time getting your kids to tell you what they want for Christmas? Here is a way to get them to tell you by making it crafty and fun!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Colored pencils
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Paper(construction)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Glitter
  • Toy magazine
  • Magnet
  • Newspaper
  1. Step 1

Lay your newspaper down on which ever surface you are using to create your Christmas list. Place your construction paper down on top of it. So that when you place the glitter on the paper it's easy for clean up.

  2. Step 2

Use markers, colored pencils, or crayons to let them decorate however they choose. Then cover the remaining blank construction paper with glue by using the glue stick. Shake glitter all over paper until the whole paper is covered. Shake off the remaining glitter onto the newspaper. Let sit for a minute to make sure remaining glitter sticks to the paper.

  3. Step 3

While you're letting the glitter paper sit, have them look through the toy magazine to see what gifts/toys they like. When they find the ones they like, have them cut the pictures out. In the corner of each picture have them mark with the markers which ones they want more.

  4. Step 4

After they decided what pictures to cut out, have them either put or throw away the remaining paper. Take regular glue now, and have them place a small dab on each corner of the picture. Place pictures where ever you want all over your paper. Let dry for about 5-10 minutes. Take a magnet, and place your creation on the fridge.

  5. Step 5

Now you only have to keep referring to the list they created instead of them having to think of, or remember what they told you the first time. You also have a visual now of what it is they want, in case you can't remember the name of the item. You can even take the list with you while shopping!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different colored glitter to make it stand out more.
  • When marking the toys they want more, have them use numbers in the corner.
  • Not using a glue stick to cover the paper will create a giant mess, and will also take longer to dry. So regular glue is not recommended!
  • Make sure to place glue on backside of picture.
  • Make sure you shake all the extra glitter off before you hang it on your fridge.
  • If doing this with young children either cut out pictures yourself, or make sure there is direct adult supervision while cutting.
