Step 1
What material is the bedding made of? 100% cotton is very breathable and is considered by most to be the best bedding material. Singly ply Egyptian or Pima cotton is the most luxurious because it resists pilling, is very soft, and very durable. Pima cotton is grown mainly in the North America, and Egyptian cotton is grown in Egypt. Keep in mind that Egyptian cotton comes from Egypt, but is usually sent somewhere else to be made into bedding, so your Egyptian cotton bedding usually will not come from Egypt. Polyester is usually not as comfortable. Consider organic cotton for a healthier home.

Step 2
The thread count of bedding is very important - especially the sheets. Thread count is basically the amount of threads per square inch, or the density of the weave. In order to get more threads per inch, the threads have to be thinner. The more threads per inch, the stronger the fabric. Try to get sheets with at least a 400 thread count.

Step 3
How does the fabric feel? Bedding can have the highest thread count, but if an inferior cotton fiber is used then it will not be as luxurious.
