Things You'll Need:
- Potatoes
- Vegetable oil or Cooking spray
- Seasoning
-
Step 1
Slice your potato paper thin, the thinner you go the crispier the potato chip will be. This is where having a mandolin would come in really handy.
-
Step 2
Pour a little vegetable oil in a plate and lightly coat each slice. I just drop them on the plate one at a time then flip them over. You can also just use cooking spray if you're worried about the calories.
-
Step 3
Lightly coat a separate large round dinner plate with vegetable oil or cooking spray.
-
Step 4
Place slices in a single layer on the large dinner plate.
-
Step 5
Cook potato slices in the microwave for 4 to 8 minutes, or until they are lightly browned. Times will vary depending on your microwave power.
-
Step 6
There are tons of options when it comes to seasoning. We like to use the packet of cheese that comes in the Mac & Cheese box. Of course you can also use salt, and Cajun spice is pretty good too!
-
Step 7
Let the potato chips cool, be creative and enjoy!

on 12/22/2008 They do turn out crispy if you cook them long enough. The first time I made them they took forever to cook where I kept peeking in to see if they were done! Once you get the hang of how long they need to be left in they’re quite simple to make.

on 12/21/2008 I love the idea of making my own seasoned chips. Being cooked in the microwave, are they just as crispy? Thanks for sharing.
