How to add textures in Live Type

This brief article will give you a quick run-down on how to use textures (built in graphics) in Live Type. Which comes with Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Live Type
  1. Step 1
    Open up Live type
     
    Open up Live type

    The first thing that you need to do is open up live type. If on a Mac you can find it in the applications folder

  2. Step 2
    Textures
     
    Textures

    After that you can find the textures in the Media Browser window, Under the Textures Tab. Under Category you can choose the type of texture you would like.

  3. Step 3
    Apply
     
    Apply

    When you have found a texture that you like, either click Apply to New Track or Apply Matte. Apply to New Track will set the texture as a sort of background. Were as applying it to Matte will turn the text layer selected into the color of the texture.

  4. Step 4
    Edit
     
    Edit

    After you have applied the texture, you can edit it in the Inspector window. In this window you can change the color, speed, size and much more.

Tips & Warnings
  • In Final Cut, if you want to render a texture that you have applied to New Track, you need to drag the object in the time line above the bar.
