Make a simple, light, tasty dessert that looks like a lot more work than it is! This is very popular for picnics, wedding showers, baby showers, and just for every day! I get asked for this recipe every time I bring it to a gathering.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Angelfood Cake
  • Pint of fresh stawberries
  • Large box of straberry gelatin
  • Large container of Whipped Topping (like Cool Whip)
  1. Step 1

Make the angel food cake according to the directions on the box mix. Let it cool completely.

  2. Step 2

Meanwhile, make the strawberry gelatin in a large bowl. Put the bowl in the fridge to cool, but not set.

  3. Step 3

When the cake is cool, tear it into large bite sized pieces. Put these aside. Cut the strawberries into halves or smaller.

  4. Step 4

Mix the whipped topping into the liquid gelatin. Stir together until mostly smooth. It doesn't have to be perfect. Add in strawberries and mix.

  5. Step 5
    Trifle Bowl

    Trifle Bowl

In the trifle bowl (or regular large bowl if you don't have one), put a layer of the cake pieces. Pour a layer of the gelatin mixture on top, enough to mostly cover the cake. Repeat this process to fill up the bowl, ending with gelatin.

  6. Step 6

Cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge overnight.

Tips & Warnings
  • Can also be made as a raspberry dessert, substituting fresh raspberries and raspberry flavored gelatin
  • Make sure to not let your gelatin set.
