Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments

Kids love to see their creations hanging on the Christmas tree. Now you can help them make Cinnamon Applesauce Christmas Ornaments for your tree. Not only will you have a blast, it can be a Christmas Ornament tradition for years to come.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Lg jar applesauce
  • 3 c. cinnamon
  • cookie cutters
  • waxed paper
  • rolling pin
  • toothpicks
  • icing, (optional)
  1. Step 1
    Applesauce and Cinnamon Mixture

    Mix 1 large jar of applesauce with 3 c. cinnamon. Stir completely until thick. If mixture seems a little runny, add a little more cinnamon to thicken it up.

  2. Step 2
    Roll applesauce and cinnamon flat

    Lay applesauce and cinnamon mixture on waxed paper and cover with another sheet of waxed paper. Use a rolling pin to press dough out to 2/3 in. thick.

  3. Step 3

    After applesauce and cinnamon is pressed out, use the cookie cutters to cut dough into shapes on the waxed paper. Remove access dough from around the ornaments and discard.

  4. Step 4

    Use toothpicks to create the hole to put the string through to hang the ornament on the tree. Apply icing for decoration if you choose.

  5. Step 5

    Allow to dry on waxed paper for 24 hrs. Turn a couple of times throughout the drying time to allow to dry evenly.

  6. Step 6

    Enjoy and hang your new applesauce and cinnamon ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can put glitter in while mixing the applesauce and cinnamon for sparkle.
  • Applesauce and Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments make great gifts.
  • Once dry, applesauce and cinnamon ornaments can break.
