How to Connect Wii With Friends

The Nintendo Wii is an exciting and fun home game system that has a unique interactive interface which lets you make hand and body motions and movements instead of just sitting on the couch. The Wii has an internet connection, however it can be a bit tricky to connect your Wii to your friend's Wii. Here are a few simple steps to get you started.

Things You'll Need:

  • You first need to have your Wii connected to the Internet. See "How To Connect Wii To Internet" in Resources below.
  1. Step 1

    Turn on your Wii.

  2. Step 2

    On the Wii Menu, click on the "Wii Message Board" button on bottom right of the screen. It is the button with the envelope icon.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Create Message" button. It is the button with the notepad and pen icon.

  4. Step 4

    Click on "Address Book" and your Wii Console Number will appear on the screen.

  5. Step 5

    Call your friend on the phone and have them repeat the above steps 1 through 4. Have them stay on the screen with their Wii console number.

  6. Step 6

    Click on the "Register" button.

  7. Step 7

    Click on the "Wii" button.

  8. Step 8

    Have your friend tell you their console number over the phone. Enter their number on the screen.

  9. Step 9

    Enter a name and select a Mii for them. They are now in your address book.

  10. Step 10

    Have your friend repeat Step 6 through 9 and give them your console number from Step 4.

  11. Step 11

    You are now connected to your friend's Wii. You can now send them messages and Miis through the Address Book. You can also play online with them with Wii games that support online play.
