Grilled Carne Asada
Grilled Carne Asada

My kids love to order Carne Asada from a famous
local restaurant. They serve the steak medium over fresh hot corn tortillas. We asked the chef for his marinade recipe so we can make this at home during the week.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 to 3 lbs. skirt steak
  • 1 glass pyrex dish
  • 4 lemons
  • 4 limes
  • garlic salt / Garlic powder
  • 1 onion
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  1. Step 1

Shop for all items on the grocery list. You can purchase
Skirt Steak from your local supermarket or Butcher. Sometimes if I can't find Skirt Steak, Flat Meat
is another good option. The package will look like there is a small piece of meat in it, but once you open it up, the meat will unfold into a large piece.

  2. Step 2

Place the meat in a glass Pyrex dish. Squeeze the juice of 4 limes and 4 lemons
over the meat into the glass dish.

  3. Step 3

Shake a small amount of garlic salt and garlic
powder on both sides of the meat. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  4. Step 4

Cut the onion into small thin strips. set aside

  5. Step 5

take a small brush and squeeze 2 tbsp. ketchup
over the top of the meat. Use a meat brush and brush
the ketchup over the meat. Make sure to do both sides
    of the meat.

  6. Step 6

Let marinate over night if possible. If you don't have time for that,
try to let it sit at least 2 hours.

  7. Step 7

BBQ the meat on both sides over hot flames for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until there are char marks.

Tips & Warnings
  • serve with hot tortillas, beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole.
