One of the most elegant additions to kitchens is to install either a marble countertop or marble flooring. The beauty of this type of addition is unsurpassed by any other covering that is available. However, marble is soft and porous, and although it is lovely to admire, it is damaged very easily by certain substances. Acids, like vinegar, will damage marble quickly if left on long enough to do so. To remove vinegar stains from marble, just follow these steps.
Step 1
Blot any vinegar that remains on the marble countertop or floor. This action must be done immediately after it has been spilled.

Make a paste using baking soda and water.
Step 3
Dampen the surface of the marble above the stain with pure water.
Step 4
Apply the paste over the spill.
Step 5
Cover the paste with plastic wrap.
Step 6
Tape the edges down with painter's tape to make it as air-tight as possible.
Step 7
Let the paste harden. As it dries, it will pull the stain out of the marble.
Step 8
Wait 24 hours. Remove the plastic, and let the paste dry completely, which will take another 24 to 48 hours.
Step 9
Gently blot the paste with pure water and a very soft towel when dry. Polish with a soft cloth.
Step 10
Repeat as necessary. If the stain is still there after two or three applications, call a stone dealer for advice. A stone-care professional may be able to provide you with a different paste for you to try yourself. If that doesn't work, your dealer can recommend a professional to clean your marble countertop or floors.
