Things You'll Need:
- Computer, internet connection, and web browser.
-
Step 1
Decide what features you want in your cordless phone, and how much you're willing to spend. Things to consider include range of the phone, frequency of the phone, backlit buttons and keypad, 911 button, voice quality and volume, battery life, analog or digital, the phone's compatibility with Skype, and whether or not you want additional features for the hearing and sight impaired.
-
Step 2
If you have a "b," "g," or "n" wireless network in your home, 2.4GHz cordless phones may interfere with it since they operate on the same frequency. Some phones, such as the AT&T E2801 use the 2.4GHz frequency, but are designed in such a way as to not interfere with Wi-Fi. To be certain the cordless phone works with Wi-Fi, get one with a frequency other than 2.4GHz.
-
Step 3
Find reviews of cordless phones on the internet. A good place to start is consumersearch, which is a site that looks at what reviews from other sites say about a product to determine which is the best to buy. A lot of general info about cordless phones can be found there as well. See the resources below for a link to their cordless phones reviews.
-
Step 4
Another great place to look for cordless telephones is Amazon.com (link to the cordless phones category in resources). They have over 1,000 phones in the "Cordless Telephones" category, with some phones having hundreds of reviews.
-
Step 5
Perform a simple internet search using terms such as "cordless phones," or "buy cordless phones," and search through the websites that come up to find the best cordless phone for you. Compare prices on as many websites as you can to make sure you get the best deal.
