Install Motorcycle Mirrors

Installing motorcycle mirrors is easy to do. Once you have the correct motorcycle mirror all you need is the proper size wrench. The most important step in the installation of your mirror is to make sure it is positioned correctly so when you are riding on your motorcycle you can see behind you. Once the mirror is tightened it will not move. So, make sure the mirror is properly positioned prior to going for a ride. Some motorcycle mirrors come with signal lights. These are not mandatory but are suggested. The goal is to make your motorcycle experience as safe and pleasant as possible.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Motorcycle mirror
  • Adjustment nut wrench
  1. Step 1

Locate the mirror perch on the motorcycle handle and insert the mirror post inside the threaded section of the perch.

  2. Step 2

Straighten out the handlebars on your motorcycle so when you install your motorcycle mirror, the mirror is positioned straight as well.

  3. Step 3

Rotate the mirror in the perch clockwise. Turn it until there are a few millimeters of thread left.

  4. Step 4

Properly position the mirror. Sit on the motorcycle to make sure the mirror is perfectly placed. Using your fingers, turn down, clockwise, the adjustment nut located at the top of the perch.

  5. Step 5

Tighten the nut with the appropriate size wrench. Motorcycle nut wrenches come in either 12, 14, 17 or 19 millimeters. Check your motorcycle manual to see what size you need.

Tips & Warnings
  • Motorcycle mirrors are as varied as motorcycles. Make sure to order the mirror designed for your make and model.
  • Tighten the nut on the motorcycle mirror after it is correctly positioned. Make sure it is secured tight so it doesn't move in transit.
