Speak with a knowledgeable professor or researcher about your paper and see if he or she can suggest any good sources to look at. You may also want to e-mail top professionals in the field to see if they can help you. -

Use the web.
GoogleScholar is a great resource for searching both books and scholarly articles. Even if you can't access the source through Google, it will give you a list of ideas to check at your own library or in online journal databases. -

Read the bibliography.
If you find a good book or paper on your topic, make sure you read any citations it provides (both footnotes and the bibliography). This can help you uncover other sources for your research. -

Wikipedia.
When all else fails, many students turn to wikipedia. While the articles on this site are NOT RELIABLE for scholarly research, many provide links to references. You can use citations from wikipedia to help you continue your search.
