Instructions

Measure - Find the length and width of the top. Be specific, then write these measurements down so you don't forget.

    • 2

Call - Check some of the hardware stores in your area. Ask if they carry full sheets of Plexiglas and if it's in stock. Get an estimate if they do. It's important to find out if they cut to size. Make a list of everywhere you call, the price they quote you and availability.

Purchase - Bring the exact measurements of your desk to whichever store you choose. Once they've cut the Plexiglas, you should be ready to pay for your purchase and head home. Don't forget to have a vehicle large enough for it to fit in!

Cleaning - Use a good window cleaner on the Plexiglas. Dust your desk then just set your new top in place. If there are any rough edges, you can run a piece of fine steel wool over them. Be careful not to use it on the surface or you'll leave scratches.

Tips & Warnings

  • Slide photos, documents or certificates under the Plexiglas.

  • Plexiglas protects the tops of antique dressers from things like cologne and perfumes, too.

  • My desk is over five feet across and about three feet deep. I only paid around thirty dollars for a piece of Plexiglas that size.
