Things You'll Need:
- Time to rearrange your writing area
- Items that inspire you
- Mirror (optional)
- File/Paper storage
- Small plant
-
Step 1
It is vital for your office to hold you in the power position. In feng shui this is the seat in any room which gives an unobstructed view of its entrance. Shift your desk or chair so that you can see the doorway. If you are not able to move the furniture into this position placing a mirror behind your desk, to allow a line of sight to the door, will work just as well.
-
Step 2
Clear any unnecessary clutter off of your desk. Clutter outside of yourself represents emotional clutter within. When you look at the mess on your desk it is very hard to concentrate effectively. Add a file cabinet or basket to house the necessities and get rid of the rest.
-
Step 3
Inspire yourself. Think of what stimulates your interest or creativity then add items representing this to your space. Framed quotes from inspirational people, pictures of beautiful places, or even a tranquil fountain will set an inspirational environment.
-
Step 4
Shield yourself from an abundance of electronics. Keeping your distance from electromagnetic fields will be a great help to your ability to focus. Keep unnecessary gadgets away from your desk and add a plant to divert a good deal of the busy energy. You will notice the difference right away.
-
Step 5
Don't forget to have fun and allow your creative juices to flow. Give yourself frequent breaks to relax your body, mind and spirit.

on 1/1/2009 You don't have to move your work area completely if it is too difficult. Try this one thing first! Place a mirror on your desk so that you can have a view of the door from the mirror. Or, if a wall backs your desk the try placing it on the wall so that you have a view of the door behind you. If these tricks don't work a move might be just what you need to be comfortable in your workspace! Happy Feng Shuing!

on 1/1/2009 I love this article! I am definitely going to try some of these tips! Would you recommend moving your desk(work area) to another room if you could not move it to have a straight view to the entrance of the room. I have always felt like my work area is a little "off" and I think that this might be the reason! I have my back to both of the doors in the room! Do you have any good suggestions? Thanks for the great information!
