How to Clean Big Drink Cup Straws

My hubby loves those monster sized cups you get in all the convenience stores, but the attached straws were murder to get clean, until I created this.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • one piece of thin wire at least as long as the straw plus an inch or so for bending
  • 2 or 3 thin strips cut from a micro-fiber dish cloth
  1. Step 1

Bend one end of the wire to form a loop, lay out the strips of dish cloth and twist the wire around the center, make sure to tuck in ends so they don't cut the straw. The strips should be wrapped tightly so they won't pull out when you put it through the straw. Don't use too many strips or it wont fit through!

  2. Step 2

Dip the fabric in dish water, and push the empty end of wire through the straw. Pull through while twisting the wire, the fabric will squeeze through and clean the inside.

  3. Step 3

And your done! No more throwing the straws out when the coffee wont rinse out on its own! This works on the re-usable straws that come with both coffee cups and soda cups.
