How to Reassemble a Pool Table
Assembling or reassembling a pool table is no small undertaking. When possible, it is always best to hire a professional to do this job. For those who do attempt it themselves, this guide my help. Although there are several different styles of pool table, we will be dealing with the most common style: furniture style. This style generally has four legs and a wood cabinet. The frame is also typically already assembled.

Place the cabinet upside down on the floor in the area where you will be placing the table. In the center of a room is best, but if you choose to have one side closer to the wall, be sure to measure so that you have at least 69 inches from the wall on all sides to allow for playing. Put the table legs on the brackets, and put on the washers and bolts just tight enough to hold the legs in place while you flip the table back over. Double check to be sure your table is right where you want it. Then, tighten the legs in place.

Put the slate on the table. Place the middle piece first, using your eyes get it centered. When you feel you have it in place, measure the distance to all four corners. All measurements should be the same. If they are not, adjust the piece until it's centered. Once you have the middle piece in place, put the other two sheets of slate on either side.

Level the playing surface using a machinist's level. It is important to determine which side is the highest, as this will make adjustments easier. Level each end, and then put shims on both corners as close to the screw holes as possible. Check to make sure it's level again, make adjustments and then check again. Continue to do this until the surface is level from all locations. Tighten the screws, making sure they all receive equal pressure.

Seal the seams of the slate with beeswax by melting the wax with a propane torch and letting it drip along the seam. Scrape the excess once it has dried, and then repeat the process to cover all screw holes.

Put felt on the bed and, using a razor blade, cut holes in the slate where the bolts will go through the felt. Next, put the pockets on the rails and put in the screws and washers. Be sure the rails and pockets are perfectly aligned, and then tighten the screws. Underneath the table, staple or screw in the pockets.
