      Launch system preferences

      Click the "Apple Menu" in the upper left-hand corner of your menu bar and select "System Preferences." Release the mouse click to launch "System Preferences."

      Click the "Accounts" icon to open the "Accounts" preference pane.

      Locate the new image file you wish to use as your new user icon. Click to select the picture. Drag and drop the image file to the current user icon in the center-right of the "Users" preference pane to update the icon.
