Instructions

    • 1

Start eating more healthful foods. Fill your diet with lots of fruit, vegetables and lean meats. Drink at least six to eight cups of water a day. Avoid carbonated beverages, sugar-filled foods and drinks and all processed foods. This may throw your system off a bit at first but it will even out with time.

    • 2

Start running. Run 1 1/2 miles every day. Vary the course so that you have to run flat land, hills and more. Time yourself with a stopwatch and keep track of your times in a notebook. Make sure you have good running shoes with comfortable soles that are also very supportive. Try to get your time under 11 minutes. In the academy you will be tested on your 1 1/2 mile time.

    • 3

Lie on the ground and set a timer on your stopwatch for 2 minutes. Do as many sit-ups in this time as you can, making sure to do each one correctly. Hold your form the entire time and count as you go. Record your daily amount in your notebook.
Then get into push-up position. Do 10 push-ups, then hold for 30 seconds, 10 push-ups, hold and repeat. Do this until you have done 100 push-ups. If you have to stop or can't complete all 100, write your total in the notebook so you can track your progress.

    • 4

Do chin-ups, one set of 10 with your palms facing toward and then 10 with your palms facing away. This will develop both sets of muscles in your forearms. Then do as many as you can, striving to do more and more each day or week you train. Be sure to keep your body tight and feet down; don't allow them to kick or push you up in any way.

    • 5

Continue your running, sit-ups, push-ups and chin-ups daily. Give your body a break every few days if you feel you need it. Don't worry if you can't do your best every day. You will have better days than others. Track your progress with your notebook. The more often you do these things the easier they will get. Keep practicing, and the academy will be a breeze.
