Perhaps you have recently moved or, better yet, had the means to purchase a brand new bed. In either case, you need to assemble an adjustable bed frame. While the process seems like it should be straightforward, it can be a real pain unless it is done methodically following a few simple steps.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Bed frame
    • Large bolts and nuts
    • Wrench (optional)
    • Measuring tape
      • 1

Measure the mattress. Take a tape measure and record the length and width of the mattress or box springs, whatever will be resting directly on the frame.

      • 2

Lay the frame parts in front of you. Place the two long sides parallel and the two shorter sides of the frame parallel, creating a rectangle. Use your measurements to ensure the frame is being set up large enough to accommodate the bed. Place the frame's measurements a tad larger than the bed's to ensure that the bed will fit on top.

      • 3

Connect the corners. Start by connecting the top right corner of the bed frame by sticking the bolt with the head on top through the opening in the frame. Lightly secure the nut to the bottom of the bolt, but not too tightly as you are going to fine tune the adjustments once the bed is in place. Repeat for all four corners.

      • 4

Place the bed on the frame. Take the mattress or mattress box and gently place it on the frame. Push each corner of the frame inwards until it is flush with the mattress, creating a snug barrier around it.

      • 5

Secure in place. Tighten the loose nuts on the bolts, either by hand or using a wrench to firmly secure them in place.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Place your bed frame where you want your bed to be as you are setting it up or you will be stuck with this behemoth piece of furniture to shove across the room. Keep the sheets and padding off the mattress until the frame is fully secure and the mattress and box springs in place.

    • Don't jump up and down on the bed, even if the frame is securely in place, because that could eventually wear out the mattress, anger others and make too much noise for any neighbors living below.
