Blogging is a way to express yourself to the entire world through the power of words. When you blog, you can do it anonymously or under an alias and still get plenty of readers daily. Many people who blog wish to one day become known by the world because of their talents. The good news about this is that it is entirely possible. Many people have become recognized personalities through the power of blogging and you can also do it.

1. Get a blog. If you already have a blog, that is great. If you do not, you can sign up for a free one at Blogger or use one on MySpace.

2. Begin brainstorming. What are your strengths? Are there any particular topics that you know a great deal about? Look up what people are doing and wanting these days. You can Google trends in order to figure out what's popular today, this week, this month, or even this year and years before.

3. Research your topic. You want to get really involved in your niche of writing because this is what people are going to look forward to when they read your blog. Find out facts, quotes, look for images, visit places, take photos and interview people, in order to gather all of the possible knowledge on the topic that you can.

4. Write your first blog entry. There really is no need to introduce yourself but you should let your readers know exactly what your blog is about and what they can expect in the future. It's smart to post a new blog everyday or at least every other day in order to keep your readers interested.

5. Promote your blog. Post links to your blog with a short description on your profiles if you're a member of other sites. Send emails to all of your friends and family and tell them to pass the link along to their friends and family. If you are a member of any forums, put a link to the site in your signature. If you have a website, include a link to your blog on your website. Check places like Yahoo! Answers for people looking for information on your topic and post a link there to answer their question. The opportunities to promote your blog are endless.

6. Read other people's blogs that are similar to your own. Post comments to them often that include facts and show people your knowledge on the subject. Include a link to your blog to attract more readers. Comment on blogs often because this is where bloggers and blog readers tend to migrate.

7. Keep posting and promoting your site and before you know it, you will have made a name for yourself.

• Be sure to update your blog with new information. People do not want to read the same thing day after day on one blog.

• Do not submit personal information through your blog. This can be very dangerous as someone can steal your identity. Do not talk badly of other people on your blog. Being rude and inconsiderate of others can cause your blog to become unpopular.
