Things You'll Need:
- 1 can of Bru Mix (comes with package of yeast)
- sugar
- 5 gallon pail with lid
- water
- 4 feet of 1/2 inch syphon hose
- 12 or 13 - (2 litre) plastic pop bottles
-
Step 1
Using a large pot, half fill with water and bring to a boil. Add 4 cups of white sugar. Add contents of Bru Mix can. Stir slowly until mixture is smooth. About this time you will have to add yeast mixture into a cup of warm water and let sit for about 5 minutes. Pour into the 5 gallon bucket and fill with tap water. (We use a hose attached to the laundry sink taps). Add water slowly or it will foam. Add yeast mixture now and stir. Put the lid on the pail and store in a dry, WARM place for approximately 2 to 3 weeks.

Step 2
Make sure all plastic pop bottles are clean and sterilized. Put 1 tablespoon of sugar in each bottle. (we also use the laundry tubs here)We set the bottles in the sink and the 5 gallon pail up on the washing machine at my house. The pail will have to be higher than the bottles to siphon properly. Using the half inch hose, we siphon beer mix into each 2 liter bottle. There will be some sediment in the bottom of the pail so try not to disturb it. Once pail is empty, we cap the bottles and shake. Bottles are then wiped dry and stored in a dry, COOL spot.

Step 3
In another 2 weeks or so, the beer is ready to drink. Really! At this point we put a couple of bottles in the fridge. When ready to use, we use the same 1/2 inch hose and siphon into a CLEAN 2 liter pop bottle, again leaving some sediment in the bottom of the bottle. From there, we pour it into a glass as we need it.

Step 4
I would suggest at this time, that you get another batch going in the 5 gallon pail. The longer you leave it, the better it will be. We sterilize the hose, bucket and LID with water and a bit of bleach.
