Indoor gardening can be a very fun hobby, and the rewards are very fruitful. Lame pun intended. Have you ever been interested in growing your own fruits, vegetables, or herbs inside? This article will show you how to get it all started.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Winter Savory (or beginner's herb of choice seeds)
  • Indoor Herb Garden Pot
  • One part potting soil, one part sand, and one part peat moss mix of soil blend
  • time and patience!
  1. Step 1

Start with your 1 gallon pot, I like to use ceramic pots for the simple matter of bringing more attraction to my herb garden. Ceramic pots can be fun to decorate, paint, or design as a craft too.

  2. Step 2

Now you're going to need to add your soil to the pot of choice. This should be a mix of potting soil and sand. Some experts even suggest adding a hint of lime to your soil mix for optimum growth.

  3. Step 3

Plant your herb seeds. These can be obtained at health market stores, or even on the internet. It's a good idea to buy extra seeds since this is your first time growing your own herb garden.

  4. Step 4

Give your plant a nice place on a window seal that will let your herbs get atleast 6 hours of light everyday. To make sure the light is being evenly distributed to all parts of your herbs you may want to buy a rotational base for your pot, or atleast rotate them every once in a while.

  5. Step 5

Water your herbs with room temperature water, giving your herbs time to dry out before watering sessions. Time and patience is key in growing your own herbs inside!

Tips & Warnings
  • Take time to enjoy your indoor herb garden and the charm it can bring to your home, not to mention the wonderful aroma.
