Things You'll Need:
- Restraint
-
Step 1
The first thing to do is take basically bite the bullet; thank them for the opportunity.
-
Step 2
you're fired!Instead of dwelling on it, focus on what you will do next. 2008 was a terrible economic year--several people were laid-off and are in this situation. You are not alone.
-
Step 3
Was your termination legitimate? Maybe it was, but chances are it was not. If it is something you have any proof of, I strongly suggest legal counsel.
-
Step 4
Do not speak poorly of an employer to anyone from which you may possibly get a working job. Even if you were in the right in the last situation, fought, sued and won, it would be a mistake to inform your future employer. They is very threatening, they do not want the same thing to happen to them.
-
Step 5
The last two times I got fired it just so chanced I had something to attend directly thereafter. This forced me to not have a meltdown right after. I chose to not tell friends until days later. It helps to do something active right after, even though it is probably the last thing you feel like doing; it puts you in the situation to let it go for at least a couple of hours. It will help you realize a job is not what life is entirely all about.

on 12/12/2008 I've been lucky (knock on wood) that it hasn't happened to me, but your advice here is good for anyone who has ever gotten fired. Thanks for sharing your advice!
