Cherry Drop Cookies

These cookies are a pretty and delicious addition to your Christmas cookie plates. The maraschino cherry in the center is like a little jewel and adds a burst of flavor to this yummy treat.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 4 Tbsp cherry juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • Mixed cinnamon and sugar
  • Jar of maraschino cherries
  1. Step 1

Mix the butter, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, egg, cherry juice and vanilla together. Use the cherry juice from the jar of cherries.

  2. Step 2

Mix in the flour until everything is thoroughly combined.

  3. Step 3

Place 1 inch balls of dough onto the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. This dough is sticky so it may be easier to use a spoon to scoop the dough and another to scrape it off onto the cookie sheet.

  4. Step 4

Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mix on top of the cookies. Chop the cherries in half and place one half on top of each ball of dough. Press down a bit to make sure the cherry stays in place and to flatten the dough a bit.

  5. Step 5

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the cookie dough is hard to work with, put it in the fridge to chill for a few hours.
