Step 1
The first way to hunt in a responsible manner is to ensure that you handle your gun in a fashion that is considered to be safe. This means that you should avoid pointing it at yourself, and others, playing with it in an irresponsible manner, and taking shots that are considered to be “blind”. A gunshot wound that occurs deep in the woods during hunting season is one that can be potentially life threatening. Avoid taking chances that can result in this type of accident.

Step 2
If and when you take a shot, and shoot at something, it is important to ensure that you track down where the bullet when in order to determine if it hit the game that you were aiming at. In addition to this, it is important to go to where you landed the bullet to ensure that no one was in the line of the fire that could have been injured.
-
Step 3
It is important to understand that when the season rolls around to hunt, you are not the only person out there doing any hunting. You must ensure that you respect each and every other individual who is engaging in the same hobby as you when it comes to sharing the woods and enjoying your time out. In turn, they are likely to respect you as well!
-
Step 4
When in the woods, it is absolutely essential to ensure that you do not mess up the woods with pollution. If you come across someone’s belongings, be sure to leave them intact and do not infringe upon their rights. Be nice to nature, and be nice to others – both very important strategies when it comes to hunting in a responsible manner.
-
Step 5
If you are out for particular kills when hunting, it is important to ensure that you aim to kill, do not aim to injure. While hunting does result in fatally eliminating animals, taking shots that are not intended to kill on target can result in a high level of discomfort for the animal and can be considered to be cruel. If you are going to take a shot, make sure it is “THE” shot – or, do not take it at all.
-
Step 6
If you see that there are “No Trespassing” or “Private Property” signs up on an area that you would like to hunt in, do not enter the area unless you have been issued permission by the property owner. In addition to this, you may want to be sure to get a written permission slip that you can carry on your person at all times that is signed by the property owner in case future complications occur.
-
Step 7
If you are wondering how to hunt in a responsible manner, be sure that you know and understand all of the laws and regulations that are available in the area where you reside. Not knowing these and abiding by them can result in serious complications including injury and death.
