Buying a puppy can be exciting and scary at the same time. There are many things to consider before deciding to buy a puppy and who to buy it from. A puppy is a huge commitment, but it can be a very rewarding experience.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is to consider the size and type of dog you wish to buy for your household. How much space do you have for the dog to run around in? What breed is kid friendly?

  2. Step 2

Next, you need to determine a price range. Most pure breeds are several hundred dollars, so if money is an issue you might consider adopting a dog from a local animal shelter.

  3. Step 3

If you are buying a dog from a breeder, make sure the breeder is registered with one of the nations many kennel clubs. Ask to see their papers, and look for breeders who provide the puppy with the first vet visit and set of shots.
