Little crochet hat & scarf
Little crochet hat & scarf

Sometimes we make cute little crafts and find that the craft would be so much cuter with a little crochet hat and matching scarf. A lot of crafts call for hats and scarfs to be made from felt or material, so this is a great alternative. If you already know how to perform the basics in crocheting, these will be quite quick and easy to make.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Size 3 crochet hook
  • Red and green yarn
  • Scissors
  • Pom pom (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Row six

In each of the double crochets, make 1 double crochet. This is the 6th and last row for the hat. Connect and end your yarn, leaving about 1 1/2 inches to tie off the crochet hat.

  7. Step 7

Work the 1 1/2 inches of yarn through the hat to hide the ending yarn to make a clean look and secure the ending yarn.

  8. Step 8

Chain and row 1:To crochet a matching tiny little scarf, using a size 3 crochet hook, chain 8, turn and crochet 1 double crochet in each of the remaining 5 chains which creates a total of 6 double crochets. Chain 3 and turn.

  11. Step 11
    Add fringe

    Add fringe

Now you want to add a cute fringe to your little crochet scarf. Cut 8 pieces of yarn 2 1/2" long. One at a time, insert your crochet hook into one end of the scarf hook the loop that you made with the yarn (by folding it in half)and pull the loop back through the scarf. Pull the two ends of the piece of yarn to tighten. Repeat this process 4 times until you have evenly created the fringe. Repeat this whole process for the other end of the scarf using the remaining 4 pieces of yarn.

  12. Step 12
    Trim fringe

Using your fingers to hold the fringe taut and take a pair of scissors and trim the fringe evenly across. Repeat for the other end of the scarf.

on 12/21/2008 Adorable. I crochet a lot and always drawn to tiny projects like these. I've made the hat pattern as you suggest here - only I then decorated it to be a Christmas tree with little knots of varied colors. :) 5 stars
