Choose the Perfect Electric Shavers and Razors

I know that I'm in for a near nervous breakdown when my husbands electric razor dies. For him, shopping for an electric shaver is like me shopping for shoes. It has to feel right, have all the right components, and look just right. Come on, how can an electric razor 'not' look right? Apparently there are a lot of things that need to fit the bill when it comes to shopping for electric shavers. Once I arm you with this pertinent information you will be ready to go on your mission, if you choose to accept it, to buy a brand new electric razor.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First of all you are going to want to see if you can get a deal on an electric razor. They come in many shapes, sizes, and price ranges! You can get a good quality electric shaver for anywhere between $35 to $300. You can see there is quite a difference in price. Don't be fooled though, price does not always equal quality when it comes to the electric razor my friend!

  2. Step 2

Second, you will want to be sure to choose the one with the correct specifications...especially if you are shopping solo. Did he say he wanted corded or cordless? And if he wanted cordless, you want to make sure sure sure that it comes with a cord so he can use the electric shaver while it's charging. I found out the hard way that many cordless electric razors come with a charging dock instead of a cord. This is a mistake! Your man will get half way through with shaving and all of a sudden the electric shaver will die! If it has a cord, he can plug it in and finish the job while it's charging! Nifty!

  3. Step 3

Thrid, you need to know whether he wants a "Rotary" shaver or a "Foil" shaver. The Rotary Electric Shaver usually has three heads that cut in a circular motion. The Foil Electric Shaver has a straight cutting surface underneath a foil screen. I suppose it's personal preference and it's probably important to him...so make sure you know what he wants before you buy it.

  4. Step 4

Fourth, make sure you are purchasing the correct item the first time. Some stores are funny about returning electronic items and this includes electric razors. You may also want to pick up an extra pack of blades while you are there. I once found an electric razor that my husband adored and then could not get new blades for it anywhere...what a kick in the pants!

  5. Step 5

If you are armed with all of this information and the requests from your man, you should be able to make a well informed decision about which electric shaver to purchase. If all else fails and your guy is seriously not picky...go with the best overall value. There are plenty of big brand names out there. You can get a cordless Norelco with a corded charger for around $45.00 and that is a really good deal. Happy Hunting!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget that men aren't the only ones who shave!
  • Women have a nice electric razor selection too!
